Resilience: Psychosocial aspects of transgender women in Soledad Colombia
Keywords:
Resilience, Transgender Women, PsychosocialAbstract
This research falls within the qualitative paradigm through the use of phenomenological analysis, focusing on the experiences of each of the participants. The psychosocial analysis of resilience in transgender women in a specific area of the municipality of Soledad, Atlántico, who are between 18 and 30 years old, is the objective of this article. The technique applied was a semi-structured interview that lasted between two and three hours per participant, which facilitated access to detailed information regarding the elements that shape
resilience in these women. The findings reveal the existence of resources in the construction of resilience. Among the risk factors, social and family rejection emerges as one of the main difficulties. However, some protective factors are evident, such as having support networks, especially peer communities, because they provide emotional support and validation. These resources are crucial for enhancing resilience in transgender women. Resilience in these women is built mainly through the reconceptualization of their belief system and the recognition of their motivations derived from their desire to embody femininity. In addition, the adoption of particular modes of expression, as well as the cultivation of personal resources, are essential to the resilience process, enabling these women to face adversity and assert their identity in a challenging social context
